Spring is here in Montana, and with it comes that familiar itch to get back on the trail—longer days, melting snow, and the promise of new adventures just beyond the horizon. At The Base Camp, we’re kicking off the season in the best way we know how: bringing our community together for a night of inspiration, storytelling, and good old-fashioned trail talk.
On May 12th from 5:30–7:30 p.m., we’re thrilled to host Mountain Hardwear’s Trail Dreams Roadshow right here in Billings—and you’re invited.
A Night Built for Dreaming Big
The Trail Dreams Roadshow is all about celebrating the incredible trails of the Greater Yellowstone region and the people who explore them. Whether you’re mapping out your next multi-day adventure or just starting to dip your toes into the world of hiking and backpacking, this evening is designed to spark ideas and connect you with others who share that same pull toward the outdoors.
We’ll transform the store into a hub of creativity and connection, featuring a Trail Dreams-themed in-store experience that invites you to imagine where this summer could take you.

Doors Open & Community Hangout
Kick things off by grabbing a light refreshment, exploring the store, and catching up with familiar faces—or meeting a few new ones.
Hat Bar Activation
Design your own custom hat at our interactive Hat Bar. It’s the perfect way to create something personal to take along on your summer adventures.
Ridgeline Film Screening (16 minutes)
We’ll gather for a short but powerful screening of Ridgeline, a film that captures the beauty, challenge, and emotion of life on the trail.
Athlete Talk with Liz Derstine
Hear directly from Mountain Hardwear athlete Liz Derstine as she shares stories from her time in the mountains, lessons learned on the trail, and what fuels her passion for exploration.
Local Organization Spotlight + Raffle
We’ll highlight a local nonprofit doing meaningful work in our outdoor community, followed by a gear raffle with some great items up for grabs.
Community Q&A + Poster Signing
Stick around to ask questions, chat with Liz, snap a photo, and grab a signed poster to remember the night.
