Your Guide to Red Lodge Area Hiking, Biking & Public Trail Networks
Looking for incredible Montana hiking trails and ways to support local public lands? We’re proud to highlight Beartooth Trails, a Montana nonprofit dedicated to building, maintaining, and promoting non-motorized trails in the Red Lodge area and throughout the Beartooth Front.
At The Base Camp, we’re passionate about connecting people to the landscapes that define Montana. Beartooth Trails shares that mission by creating sustainable access to public lands while strengthening outdoor recreation opportunities for our communities.
What Beartooth Trails Does
Founded in 2002 (formerly Beartooth Recreational Trails Association), Beartooth Trails works closely with the U.S. Forest Service, the City of Red Lodge, Carbon County, private landowners, and dedicated volunteers to support a thriving regional trail system.
Trail Creation & Maintenance
Through partnerships and community support, Beartooth Trails helps fund, build, and maintain area trails. Their work includes collaboration with organizations like the Montana Conservation Corps to improve and expand trail access throughout the region. Learn more about their trail efforts here:
